National Hunting and Fishing Day
Well the annual Erie County Fair is over and the Erie County Federation of Sportsmen (ECFS) is now preparing for one of my personal favorite events, National Hunting and Fishing day. This event will once again be held on Saturday September 23rd, at the Elma Conservation Club at 600 Creek Road in Elma New York.
It will start at approximately 10 am and run through 4pm. Admission as always is FREE!
This is a hands-on event which means you and your family will have a chance to shoot a air rifle, shotgun, crossbow or regular bow.
For the first time at this event the DEC will instruct you on fishing in the pond. There will also be retriever dog demos, trapping and fur handling information.
If you want tips on deer hunting, Bass fishing or walleye fishing, there will be 7 New York state outdoorsman hall of fame representatives on site to answer your questions. The New York state Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) will also be available to answer questions regarding hunting and fishing regulations.
Information on Invasive species, waterway protection and Habitat/Access will also be available.
The ECFS will be giving away 20 fish pole/reel combos to children throughout the day and for the first time 1 HUNTING OR FISHING NYS LIFETIME LICENSE will be awarded to a child who is a Erie County resident and under 16 years of age! This, as you know, can cost 530-760 dollars!!
There will also be free food (hot dogs) and drinks available and a lot of friendly sportsmen and women will be available to answer any questions regarding hunting and fishing trapping etc.
SEE YOU THERE, Joseph Fischer
