The following are bills in the NYS Legislature that have had movement since the morning of the last Erie County Federation meeting on March 28, 2024.
Despite several people alerting me to the Hochul attempt to insert in the newly adopted budget a provision allowing NYS to override any NYS municipality or agency to determine feasibility and/or desirability of creating wind turbine farms (on land or in a body of water) or solar farms,
I have found nothing, nor have I heard any NYS Legislator make note of same as of 4/24/2024.
On a Federal level, many anti-gun groups in New York State seem to be enamored with the recent bill closing “closing gun show” loopholes. This has no effect in NYS state as it has been law that all firearms transfers must have a background check performed on the person purchasing the firearm, including internet sales, gun show sales and private transfers.
Federal Bill S3589/HR6981: To prevent unauthorized paramilitary training and more. This would prevent private citizens from crossing state lines to engage in training with semi-automatic firearms and limit state training to less than 3 people per session.
As to lawsuits, nothing has changed in NYS regarding the 2nd Circuit lawsuits. Several challenges and appeals have been registered with the Court seeking relief. Several Plaintiffs have sought Writs before the Supreme Court to reduce the backlog. Nothing has happened as of this time.
The Supreme Court will likely hear a case addressing the legitimacy of homemade firearms (commonly known as “ghost guns”) before the end of this term.

Hochul is pushing the RAPID act. This will allow the state to effectively land grab for the purpose of installing renewable energy facilities -including wind turbines, solar power, and other BS that cost more to maintain than what they generate.
So if you have some farm land or recreational land the governor wants you can lose it without recourse.
We are becoming more like China every day.
